A subtle card game of auctions and hand management.
As the head of a medieval monastery, your goal is to assemble the greatest book collection and build the most famous library. To that end, you need to acquire the necessary pigments for decorative lettering, hire the best copyists and reproduce the most precious works.
But you have only a limited amount of gold at your disposal to reach your goal. The trick is to part with the items in your collection at just the right time and to pay the lowest price for the works for which others will envy you. Finally, you must watch out for the bishops, who can ruin your plans on a whim!
In Biblios, victory points are obtained by being ahead in one or more of the following categories: monks, pigments, holy books, manuscripts and forbidden tomes.
RULES OVERVIEW
A game is split into two phases. In the Gift phase, players will compose their hand of cards and build a common Auction pile. In turn order, players draw several cards to allocate: one goes to their own hand, one to the Auction pile and the rest to the other players, who will choose one each. Once the draw pile has been exhausted, the Auction phase begins; players now bid for and purchase cards from the Auction pile. Players acquire the cards that have been previously put in the Auction Stack.
Category cards are acquired by betting gold cards, while gold cards are purchased with category cards. Church cards provide bonuses or penalties and modify the points provided by each category.
The player who has the most victory points at the end of the Auction phase wins the game.
