Topps Hits the Ice With the Upcoming Launch of Puck Attax
New Head-to-Head Hockey Card Game to Unveil
For the 2009-10 NHL Season
Wednesday September 09, 2009
Building off the enormous global success of the Match Attax card game in Europe and the new- to- market Topps Attax game in the United States, The Topps Company, the leading creator and marketer of sports and related cards, today announced the introduction of Puck Attax, a new multi-player hockey card game that allows kids to manage their teams and face off against friends in head-to-head action.
The highly anticipated head-to-head card game will be available in the U.S. and Canada in November, shortly after the start of the 2009-10 NHL season.
“We are extremely excited to bring the Puck Attax game to NHL fans,” said Warren Friss, VP, Topps Sports and Entertainment. “Hockey fans are some of the most passionate and devoted fans in the world and we believe this new product will capture the excitement and imagination of kids.”
Topps originally developed the Attax game in 2007 with the English Premier League, now the world’s most popular card game. In April 2009, Topps unveiled Topps Attax, where players battle head-to-head with one another, selecting pitchers and batters to “match up,” the same way that players do in Major League Baseball games.
Each Puck Attax game card will be in the shape of a hockey puck, featuring player image, player name, team logo, position and player ratings. Every NHL team will be represented and special foil game cards featuring hockey’s brightest stars will be included. The product will include a starter box, which includes game cards and play-mat, as well as booster packs.
Product will hit shelves on November 2, 2009.
