U.S. publisher Gryphon Games and German publisher Pegasus Spiele are very pleased to announce the Spiel des Jahres (German Game of the Year) nomination of Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age (Im Wanden der Zeiten – das Würfelspiel: Bronzezeit) designed by Matt Leacock.
Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age is a dice driven civilization game that is for 1-4 players and plays in 30-45 minutes. Players roll special six-sided dice that generate food, workers, or trade goods and then decide how to allocate those resources by building new cities, constructing monuments, or researching new technologies. The game components (7 over-sized dice, resource pegs and player boards) are all made of wood and add a rewarding thematic and tactile experience to the game.
Roll Through the Ages continues Matt Leacock’s recent string of successes. Matt earned international recognition (and was nominated for an SdJ last year) for his first widely published game, Pandemic (German edition also published by Pegasus Spiele). He has been playing games almost all his life and by his own admission was editing/re-designing many games at a very early age. Matt is planning on releasing a new Age for Roll Through the Ages in 2011.
Roll Through the Ages has been widely embraced by the international gaming community, and in addition to English and German, Roll Through the Ages is available in Chinese (Swan Panasia), Dutch (White Goblin Games), French (White Goblin Games), Japanese (New Games Order), Korean (Korea Boardgames), and Spanish (Gen-X Games).
