Passport Games will release English-language versions of two European board games this summer: Alberto Corral’s Castaways (retitled from Naufragos) and Gamina Ltd’s Soccero (2nd edition).

In an exclusive agreement with Spanish game design company Homoludicus, Passport will distribute Castaways to the North America market. Released in French, Italian and Spanish in May of 2013, the (up to) four person board game drops you on a deserted isle with your fellow players, where you have to build a camp, explore the island interior, reach the mountain summit, and scan the horizon for a rescue ship. While you have to work together, the real goal is to collect Story Points, because once players manage to signal a rescue ship, only the player with the most Story Points is rescued. The game is best suited for two to four players, ages 12 and up, and plays in about 120 minutes. Castaways releases in North America on August 9, 2013.




Soccero was created by game designers Jarmo Kuitunen and Martti Ojalainen, and the second edition was released in 2012 by Gamina. The two-player soccer board game aims to deliver an exciting and realistic futbol experience for both basic and advanced players. Using dice to determine the ball's possible routes (either a regular die or the new special kick die), players move their figures and the ball on the game board. The game is designed for the skilled and strategic player, though just as in real soccer, luck can always bring an unexpected challenge. The extended rules cover special situations such as goal kicks, corner kicks, throw-ins, free kicks, and penalty kicks.(PGS301) Soccero releases in North America on July 12, 2013.
